On any given morning in Franklin Square, you might encounter a group of women from Chinatown participating in an informal dance class. Toddlers from a nearby day care center giggling and laughing in the playground. Some Old City residents playing a pick-up game of Frisbee. Or a Scout troop examining the foliage to earn a merit badge.
Since day one, creating a welcoming, open space where diverse communities can gather has been an essential part of the Franklin Square mission. And Historic Philadelphia, Inc. (HPI) continues to actively engage with leaders from the surrounding neighborhood and business organizations to assure that the services and programs we offer are relevant, accessible, and responsive to the communities’ needs.
As the largest green space serving the Old City, Chinatown and Northern Liberty neighborhoods, Franklin Square’s green space, events and activities enhance the quality of life.
From our annual family-friendly New Year’s Eve Square Drop, to the Hop-A-Long Trail, Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival, Pumpkin Patch and Trick or Treat Street through to the Electrical Spectacle Light Show, Kwanzaa and Hanukkah festivities and so much more, we extend an open invitation to everyone to visit, play, relax, and enjoy Franklin Square.
