The Historic Philadelphia Scavenger Hunt
“I didn’t know much about American History—but I feel like I learned a lot and it was a good way to learn!” -11th Grader
Perfect for upper middle-level and high school level learners, this is not your average scavenger hunt. Rather than send students to just locate and look at buildings and objects, this scavenger hunt brings your textbook to life and rescues important stories from the margns.
Your students will visit the Betsy Ross House, the Second Bank of the United States, Carpenters’ Hall, Old City Hall and dozens of other sites on a guided learning experience through Historic Philadelphia. Along the way they will learn about people, places, and events in themes ranging from Diversity and Multiculturalism to Women in History to The Role of Government and more. It’s a scavenger hunt where the prizes are real learning and deep understanding—where every stop is a teachable moment.
The Scavenger Hunt is customizable to fit your logistical needs. It can be an hour or two or a full-day experience.
Historic Philadelphia’s Education Team provides grade-level appropriate writing prompts and standard multiple choice, true/false, and short answer assessment questions so your students can demonstrate their new learning back in the classroom.
By the end of the Scavenger Hunt Field Trip your students will have learned the necessary content to respond to writing prompts such as:
Diversity and Multiculturalism Race, Slavery, and Social Justice:
Provide three examples of people, places, and/or events that demonstrate either oppression or liberation of one individual or group by another individual or group. How do these affect your understanding of the American experience?
Pricing for the 2013-2014 School Year
