Lights of Liberty Center
From April through September, the spacious Liberty Center is home to the Lights of Liberty show. It is also an excellent option for those arriving at Independence Hall during the show’s off-season, with a mini-theater featuring a multi-media wall and the award-winning Lights of Liberty gift shop, which blends historically themed products with whimsical souvenirs in a museum shop setting.
The 6,000 square foot building is divided into five different areas, including the striking 1,000 square foot gift shop, a ticket shop where admissions are purchased and headsets are given out for the show, the stage where Lights of Liberty shows begin, and more. The Liberty Center is also home to Ben Franklin's Ghost -- a free exhibit where kids (and adults) can use a touch-screen computer "book," to query Ben with their own questions or choose from two hundred pre-formed questions, answered by Dr. Franklin, who appears as a dramatic, large screen image.
The Liberty Center is located at 6th and Chestnut Street, just across the street from Independence Hall. See map »

About Lights of Liberty
A surefire evening hit! Famed Philadelphia structures like Independence Hall, the Second Bank of the United States, Carpenters’ Hall and more come to life as the backdrop for 50-foot high projections, while high-tech headsets supply a soundtrack of cannon fire, hoof beats and musket blasts – and the voice-over narration of stars like Walter Cronkite, Ossie Davis, Frank Langella and Charlton Heston (Whoopi Goldberg narrates the Children’s Channel version.)
