Winter in Franklin Square presented by Citizens has been EXTENDED, now bringing sparkling lights and winter magic through the end of February 2021! (See below for hours.)

Guest safety is extremely important to us. The seven-acre Square has room for safe, socially distanced fun for all ages.

We have installed sanitization stations, social distancing reminders, limited capacities on attractions, and we are following new City of Philadelphia regulations.

Guests can safely celebrate the magic of the holidays both day and night. During the day, delight in playing 18 holes of wintery splendor at Chilly Philly Mini Golf presented by IBEW Local 98, spin with holiday music on the Parx Liberty Carousel, get active and move your feet along the Snowy Silly Stroll, and slide, swing, and run in the playgrounds.


Entrance to Franklin Square is FREE but attractions require tickets. See below for more information and to purchase tickets (you may also purchase tickets in person at the ticket booth).

 

**Due to City of Philadelphia regulations, SquareBurger is operating with limited service.


PLEASE NOTE: For the safety of all guests and due to facial mask requirements, outside food and drinks are not permitted inside Franklin Square.

Chilly Philly Mini Golf presented by IBEW Local 98

New for 2020, Chilly Philly Mini Golf presented by IBEW Local 98 transforms Center City’s only miniature golf course for socially-distanced winter fun both daytime and evenings. Updated with COVID-related safety standards, the course is complete with lights, holiday music, and larger-than-life wintertime friends throughout the course. The 18-hole game features reproductions of Philadelphia icons and landmarks.

Tickets: Adults: $10/Children 3-12: $8

*Access to Chilly Philly Mini Golf is restricted to up to four (4) people maximum per group to encourage limit capacities and health and safety protocols.

**Use your Citizens card for Chilly Philly Mini Golf ticket purchases and receive $1 off per person for 18 holes of fun!

Citizens customers, and those who use their Citizens card to purchase Chilly Philly Mini Golf and Parx Liberty Carousel tickets, will also receive a hot chocolate voucher for all of those in your group. Vouchers are distributed at the ticket office in the Square.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATIONS AT FRANKLIN SQUARE

Storytelling Sundays

A storyteller from Historic Philadelphia, Inc.’s Once Upon A Nation Storytelling program entertains guests with free historical stories of Philadelphia Black history. Free. Stories told outside in Franklin Square with propane heaters and distanced seating available.

DATE: Sundays, February 14, 21, and 28 from 12 - 4 pm

 

Chilly Philly Mini Golf presented by IBEW Local 98 with the Sound of Philadelphia

Throughout the month of February, music from legends Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff will play daily throughout the mini golf course.Hole Number Two features icons Gamble and Huff from Philadelphia International Records.

The worldwide music icons saturated the 70’s with symbolic social themes, creating the lush orchestration of the R&B and dance sound known as “The Sound of Philadelphia,” forever revolutionizing the recording industry.

Gamble and Huff wrote and produced over 3,000 songs, churning out hit after hit, year after year, and captivating the hearts and minds of “people all over the world.”

Parx Liberty Carousel

Hop on this spectacular all-American style carousel playing holiday music.


Ages 3+: $3 per ride, Children 2 and under: FREE

**Citizens customers, and those who use their Citizens card to purchase Parx Liberty Carousel and Chilly Philly Mini Golf tickets, will receive a hot chocolate voucher for all of those in your group. Vouchers are distributed at the ticket office in the Square.**

Healthy Activities

Throughout the Square, guests will find signage to help them experience the park in healthy ways:

-Snowy Square Stroll is a program with fun signage along the pathways suggesting ways to get the littlest visitors up and moving — and their older friends, too. Newly updated for winter.

-Anyone looking for a little cardio exercise can take a walking loop around the Square — three loops equal one mile.

-Playgrounds: Slides, swings, and spinners…bring the kids and enjoy two playgrounds! Open year-round and free.


 

Host your Holiday Party at the Pavilion in Franklin Square

Holiday music and decor, and the Electrical Spectacle Holiday Light Show presented by PECO make Franklin Square the premier venue for corporate, social, and family events!

Parking

The Philadelphia Parking Authority has added a limited number of on-street parking spaces around Franklin Square.

Three-hour parking from 8am-10pm, Monday through Sunday, is now available along:

  • 6th Street (Handicapped, motorcycle, and regular parking)
  • 7th Street (Handicapped and regular parking), Franklin Street (regular parking) and Race Street (between Franklin Street & 7th Street) (regular parking).

Pay at the adjacent parking kiosk. Please pay attention to parking boundaries as bus stops tow away zones exist adjacent to these parking areas. Parking IS NOT ALLOWED along Race Street between 6th & 7th Streets.

PLEASE NOTE: When parking on 6th Street between Race and Vine streets, please park or load to the left of the painted buffer between the lines — NOT along the curb inside the bike lane.


 

Transportation

Franklin Square is easily accessible via PATCO High Speed Line (8th & Market Streets), and SEPTA Market Frankford Line (5th & Market Streets/8th & Market Streets). For additional information visit ridepatco.org or septa.org.
